I'm still here! │ Jackson Ann Arbor Maternity Newborn Photographer

I'm still here... still here! I apologize for not posting recently, but I've been super tired, super uncomfortable and just plain lazy and unmotivated. Nice, huh? I'm currently 34 weeks pregnant and counting down the DAYS until this little one arrives.

Here are a few pictures from my last few sessions. I have one more session this weekend... a twin maternity- and possibly a newborn or two squeezed in before my due date. The maternity session photos here- she was due on my due date, May 23, but had her sweet little girl, Ashley, at I believe 32 weeks gestation? Anyhow, as far as I've been updated, baby Ashley is doing fine and I may be doing her newborn session before her actual due date if she's home before then!

So... I've kept business slow, and I've unfortunately had to turn away many clients as I'm just way too tired on top of my day job. that and it seems like May/June is "THE" month to have babies. I can't tell you how many people seem to be due in May/June of this year. And that just doesn't work out with my schedule... darn it! Hopefully some of you out there are due in July/August/September... anyone? Anyone?











If you've hung in there and are still reading this blog... thank you. I'm sure my hiatus has lost some interest in readers. If I had any to begin with LOL!

Anyhow, keep posted. I'll have another session or two (or three) possibly before my due date, and then I promise to update you with pictures of my newest little guy.

Porter still loves his Bumbo seat. We let a friend borrow it for awhile and her baby no longer needed it (she's standing now, and obviously sits on her own too), so she returned it to us. Porter thinks its pretty fun to sit in his "Bummo Seeeeet!" and watch tv.





Keep an eye out for the next few days... I'll be posting a sneak peek of a peanut of a little baby girl, weighing in at just over 5lbs. OOOhhh precious!

I was tagged by a nearby photographer, Jennifer Dery of JoNa Photography to participate in a blog game where I'm supposed to list 8 interesting things about myself that my blog readers may not know and then try to get 8 other photographers to do the same! This was actually a lot trickier than I thought it would be!!

1. I hate the squishy sound of cotton balls... its worse than nails on chalkboards to me

2. I am a huge procrastinator. I guess I'd like to think I work best under pressure.

3. I started college and wanted to be a Pediatrician. I failed Chemistry my first semester at MSU and decided that wasn't a good career for me.

4. I used to want 3 or 4 kids, but now I could see being happy with just 2. Maybe 3.

5. I'm weird about nails... toenails... fingernails. I have to keep mine short (which reminds me all day I've been picking at my nails, just itching to clip them). I clip Porter's nails numerous times a week because I can't stand when his nails rip or snag.

6. In junior high and high school I was SUPER shy. I had my little group of friends and thats about all I talked to. I'm sure many people thought I was stuck up, but really I was just shy and insecure. I was afraid of the "super popular" people. Now, well, I would definitely consider myself somewhat outgoing and talkative.

7. I gag a lot. Yucky smells... I gag. Watching someone else gag or choke... I gag. Thinking about gagging... I gag. (I'm gagging. Ok, no not really).

8. I have my teaching degree- Elementary Ed/Special Education. The job market in Michigan is so horrible, I haven't had the opportunity to teach full time yet, although I gladly would (and still do photography part time)

Apparently I'm famous...

Let's see... where to I begin...

I had a session today in Saline, and afterwards I decided to take it slow coming home. Porter was at my inlaws, my husband was golfing, so I thought... hey, I'll make a few stops along the way.

My first stop was McDonalds. Third time in the last week... this traveling and being gone at meal times is going to start taking a toll on my rear... I love me some Double Cheeseburgers... but.... my pants don't. I do have to give a shout out to the Saline McDonald's Drive-Thru worker for greeting me with SMILE and being genuinely polite. I swear, sometimes I think that the criteria for working fast food is something along the lines of "You must frown, mumble and avoid eye contact."

Anyway, where was I... Yes, rambling. Ok... so I leave McD's, scarf down my 99cent heart attack and somewhere around exit 167 my gas light comes on. Hmm... well, the Chelsea exit was coming up, and on the Chelsea exit is the scrapbook store. (Yes, I'm also a scrapbooker!) I have had a major creative block lately, and seeing I had no one to come home to I figured I'd stop in and browse for awhile (usually meaning an hour or two) and see if I can get some new goodies. While browsing I overheard the girl mentioning something about closing soon... so I ask what time it was and, what do you know, they closed in 5 minutes. I grabbed a few sheets of paper quite randomly and headed for the counter.

The girl apologized for rushing me, and I let her know that it was a good thing or she'd have been kicking me out about two hours from now. She asked my name to find my account and I (of course) said "Nicole Barczak". Her mouth dropped to the counter (ok, so maybe not so far) and she said "YOU'RE the photographer! I work with Hollie Freye and we were JUST looking at your website today! I love your work! Wow that is so crazy!"

It was so crazy that someone out of the blue knew who I was. I was so flattered and flabbergasted all at the same time I didn't think to find out how she knew about me. I stuttered something about not being able to scrapbook lately and just finishing a session and.. and.... and... and I left. HAHA!

How neat! So, Scrapbook Memories fan, if you're reading, "Hello!"
