Miss Leanna │ Grosse Pointe Michigan Toddler & Family Photographer

You might remember baby Leanna from this sneak peek last year...

Well she's growing up fast! And isn't she gorgeous?
I just love these moment I captured:

How do YOU display your portrait memories?

I'm always curious about how clients display my work in their home. Since I meet a lot of clients on location, I don't always get to see their homes or how my portraits are displayed. On occasion, I do revisit homes (specifically newborn clients who have me back for 6 month+ sessions) and I love seeing the different ways my work is displayed.

Yesterday I revisited the Phillips Family for Leanna's 1 year session (well, technically 16 months!). I met with them a year ago and was just now able to see how they displayed my work in their home. I love it! (J & A... keep an eye out for your sneak peek soon!)

I thought it would be fun to have clients email in photographs showing how they have used their portraits in their homes. Maybe if I get enough response I'll even put together a contest for the "best displayed" work! Its been a long time since we've had a contest around here!

Well, I'll be the first to participate. Many of you know, we have recently moved into a much larger home than our last, so I have lots of place to decorate! Our home was a foreclosure and it needed (still does) a lot of TLC and updating. So, slowly we're remodeling and redecorating and putting the "us" into our home sweet home. Just this past weekend I finally finished a wall in our upstairs that I'm so thrilled with. The images are 12x12's... I love the bold statement it makes... (excuse the yellowness... I'm too lazy to color correct it!)

And another spot in the upstairs hallway... one of my favorite photos of the boys.

And in our living room... (the display needs to be updated to include pictures of Hudson... poor baby!)

So, how do YOU display your portrait memories? Email your photos to me so I can share them!

These colors.... │ Jackson Ann Arbor family Photographer

I just adore fall... I love how our trees change into such gorgeous colors. And honestly, they change all too quickly. Remember the beautiful tree lined road from this session last week? Well, I met with this sweet family to take advantage of this marvelous color and all the leaves from those trees were GONE. Gone, I tell you... I couldn't believe it. Luckily, I drive through this park daily to get to work (my full time job) and I knew of another great location I'd been wanting to use. So we headed there and found LOTS of color! I'm having a hard time converting any of these pictures to black and white. And for me... that's strange... I typically gravitate toward black and white.

Anyhow... I'll leave you with a quick sneak peek. I've got 5 sessions to finish proofing and I am afraid I don't see an end in sight this evening... So, if you're waiting for your gallery... I'll be emailing you soon!

Addisen and the crew

Miss Addison is my fifth niece (no nephews at all!) and, I may be biased but I think she's absolutely gorgeous... as are her big sister, mommy and daddy. I was so excited to finally get the courage to ask a dad to take his shirt off for a session... I've been dying to try some skin on skin newborn pictures and luckily I had a willing guinea pig. I think they turned out amazing... some of my favorite newborn pictures by far.

I'm getting SO excited to be moving into my "maternity/newborn only" season this winter!

Jackson in Jackson │ Jackson Ann Arbor Family Photographer

This adorable little family moved to Michigan all the way from Cali. I told them I had a wonderful spot in Jackson to do some great fall pictures and thankfully they obliged and thus, we had a session for Jackson in Jackson!

I couldn't get over how adorable little Jackson was... a tiny 11 month old little guy with a fuzzy head of hair and deep, dark eyes. Precious.

Well, my wonderful tree lined, fall colored location happened to be swarming with mosquitos... but then again, it seems like everyone has a ton of mosquitioes right now. Poor Jackson couldn't figure out why everyone kept swatting at or near his face!

We did manage to get some great shots... one of my favorites (and I'm sure will be mom and dads... I can totally see this blown up BIG on a wall) is when we were playing in the leaves and by luck the wind picked up a little and hundreds of leaves began to flutter to the ground from all the trees around. It was amazing and beautiful. Jackson was awed by this.

This picture cracked me up... shows how willing mom and dad were to get him smiling. Great job! :)

Lane and Kasyn

I know... my blog titles are getting pretty boring. Not to mention my posts are lacking for words. Life just doesn't seem to slow down and I never feel caught up... never feel like I have a spare second in the day.

Lane was a serious little guy for most of his session... imagine my surprise when his mom told me he's typically a little stinker and a little wild man. (hmm... reminds me a lot of my oldest son... who is about Lane's age!). Lane was obviously not that amused by my failing attempts to make him laugh...

But.... I don't give up. Nearly two hours later I FINALLY got him to crack a smile. And we laughed and laughed and laughed. The last 10 minutes of his session held the greatest giggles and smiles!

And of course we can't forget little princess Kasyn. She was mesmorized by my bold striped shirt... must remember not to wear that again LOL!

Brogan │ Jackson Ann Arbor Senior Photographer

I have to admit... I was unsure of what or who to expect to see when I showed up for this session. Brogan's mom told me she had "Jesus" hair and I wasn't sure exactly what kind of person had "Jesus hair". Imagine my delight when I met up with this adorable senior... Not only is her name hip and "untraditional" but so was her style and personality. We had a great time traipsing around downtown, laughing and making jokes as I nearly made her fall off a few narrow walls. I have so many favorites from this session that I'm going to have a hard time choosing which ones to share!
